ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Lisa Sims Wallace

Painting makes me happy. The simple pleasures that surround me everyday tend to be what I paint…southern comforts like flowers, foods, the human figure, barns, farms, fields and animals. These things make me happy.

Each painting has a story to tell. Like life itself, every painting is a blend of light and darkness, with layers of color, texture and emotion. I believe that art should stir you... I hope you can see the rich colors and feel movement in each painting. Life at it's best is about sharing, uplifting, helping; I want my art to be an expression of that positive attitude.

I have painted for most of my life and began selling my artwork in 1990. Trained as a pediatric nurse practitioner, I now work part-time in order to concentrate on my painting and raising my sons Paul, Jr., and Sims. My husband, Paul, and I grew-up in Alabama. I love it most for the inspiration I find around me everyday. It's a great place to raise a family, and it's a great environment for an artist.

My work is acrylic paint on canvas, wood and walls (murals). You can find my paintings in private collections, exhibitions and galleries throughout the south.
